I know we're still just watching the start of the whole residential real estate meltdown, but do you know what's next?

Commercial real estate.

It usually lags residential, but it will bust as well. Many of the smartest guys in commercial RE have been quietly unloading their stuff to stupid LBO firms for a pretty penny recently.

I know a guy that owns several industrial warehouses and he says his tenants are leaving in droves. Business in almost every segment is hurting. Long-established restaurants in Palm Beach County are closing like crazy. Hell, even Wal-Mart is hurting for sales. I would highly recommend reading Mish's excellent blog for more insight on this stuff:

Mark my words: commercial and industrial will follow residential RE down the pits. Those segments are still in the equivalent of late-2005's residential market, but they're going to tank very soon. A recession is well under way in South Florida.
